Bernedoodles are a cross between a Bernese Mountain dog (BMD) and a poodle.
Bernedoodles are known to be friendly, social, and affectionate dogs. They are often intelligent and easy to train, making them great family pets. Their personalities can vary depending on their individual genetics and environment, but they are generally known to be playful and active, while also being calm and gentle.

Bernedoodle Genetics…not to get too sciencey
What type of Bernedoodles does Bluebonnet Bernedoodles of SE TX produce?
We breed mini F2b bernedoodles and mini multigenerational bernedoodles.
If you’ve been researching bernedoodles, you’ve probably noticed some alphabet soup describing types of bernedoodles. We’ll try to break it down here in simple terms.
The “F” signifies that the bernedoodle is a filial hybrid, meaning a hybrid of two purebred dogs. Hybrid dogs that have had proper health testing tend to have less health problems than purebred dogs due to the mixed gene pool.
The number “1 or 2” signifies the generation of the bernedoodle. Any generations past the 2nd are considered multigenerational.
The presence of a “b” signifies that one bernedoodle parent is bred back to a poodle or BMD, which increases the percent of that breed in the puppy’s genetics.
F1- Cross between a BMD and poodle; 50% Bernese/50% Poodle
F2- F1 bred back to a F1 or higher Bernedoodle
F2b- 2nd generation Bernedoodle bred back to a poodle or BMD
Multigenerational Bernedoodles- Mother and father are both F2 Bernedoodles or higher
Bernedoodles are available in both mini (30-45 lbs.) and standard (46-66 lbs.). Our breeding program is focused solely on minis at this time.
